Motor Cruising Courses
The RYA motor cruising scheme is designed for individuals looking to gain experience and knowledge on larger vessels of 25 foot and over.
Motor Cruising introductionA one day introduction to motor cruising, handling and basic seamanship. Enables the student to be a useful crew member on a motor cruiser.
RYA Helmsman’s CourseA two day course to include basic safety, helmsmanship, boat handling and introduction to engine maintenance. Enables students to handle a motor cruiser of specific type in sheltered waters.
RYA Day Skipper PracticalA three or four day course (depending on experience) including basic navigation, pilotage, boat handling and seamanship. Enables a student to skipper a motor cruiser in familiar waters by day.
RYA Coastal Skipper PracticalA three or four day course (depending on experience) including skippering techniques for coastal and offshore passages. Enables the student to skipper a motor cruiser on coastal passages by day and night.
RYA Yachtmaster PreparationPreparation for the practical yachtmaster examination, tailored to suit each individual. Instructors will assess your skills and work on any areas that may need improving.
International Certificate of Competence (ICC)A two day practical motor cruising course for students who wish to boat abroad. A separate theory exam is required if the student wished to cruise the Inland European Waterways.
